Barcelona’s long-standing interest in Luis Diaz has dominated transfer headlines in recent months.

Despite strong links, however, the prospect of Diaz arriving at Camp Nou remains clouded by major uncertainties.

According to Spanish journalist Jorge Picon, Barcelona simply cannot afford the deal it would take to bring Diaz to La Liga.

While Liverpool have made their stance clear, demanding close to €85 million for the Colombian, Barcelona’s finances are under intense pressure.

This summer, the club has already struggled to make headway on several transfer targets, most notably Nico Williams.

Despite serious interest, Barcelona failed to find the funds necessary to trigger Williams’ contract clause at Athletic Club, eventually watching him renew his deal instead.

These difficulties have left Diaz effectively out of reach.

Even as the player reportedly considers options away from Anfield, including interest from Saudi Arabia and Bayern Munich, Barcelona are not expected to table any serious bid unless they raise significant cash from outgoing transfers.

With the Catalan club locked in a cycle of financial constraints and squad rebuilding, their pursuit of high-profile signings like Diaz looks increasingly unfeasible.
