Nottingham Forest stalwart Murillo could be on the move this summer amid Liverpool interest in the Brazilian.

And now the Daily Mail has revealed that Murillo could easily leave Forest in the summer should the club not qualify for the Champions League:

Tom Collomosse, writing in a Nottingham Forest Q&A, has suggested that this would be the case.

Q: Is it possible Murillo leaves this summer

A: “Yes, especially if Forest don’t qualify for the Champions League.”

“The Brazilian is happy both at the club and in the city and signed a new contract in January.

“But he is one of the most sought-after defenders in the Premier League and when elite clubs show interest, it is very difficult for players to ignore it.”

“The ideal scenario at Forest would be for Murillo to do another season, perform brilliantly at the World Cup and perhaps leave for a world-record fee for a defender.”

“But life comes at you fast in this game and there will be interest in Murillo this summer?

One thing is certain: he won’t be cheap.”

The Brazilian defender agreed to a long-term contract extension in January 2025, tying him to Nottingham Forest until the summer of 2029 – a move aimed at preserving his transfer value for the club.

Notably, reports indicate that the new deal does not include a release clause.
