Nottingham Forest stalwart Murillo could be on the move this summer amid Liverpool interest in the Brazilian.

Earlier this month, DaveOCKOP exclusively reported that the centre-back is on the club’s shortlist heading into the summer transfer window.

Liverpool’s need to strengthen their defense is clear as the off-season approaches

Although Virgil van Dijk remains a top performer, he will turn 34 at the start of the new campaign.

Meanwhile, the situation surrounding Ibrahima Konate – whose contract is set to expire in July 2026 – could become a major storyline in the near future.

We revealed that the club have admired his performances in the Premier League since his transfer from Corinthians in 2023, and the Brazilian fits the age profile Liverpool’s decision-makers are targeting at just 22-years-old.

Murillo has quickly established himself as one of the most sought-after defenders in the Premier League, playing a key role in Forest’s unexpected push for European qualification this season.

Since arriving from Corinthians for £10.6 million in August 2023, he has become the backbone of Forest’s back line and earning the club’s 2023/24 Player of the Season honors.

And now the Daily Mail has revealed that Murillo could easily leave Forest in the summer should the club not qualify for the Champions League:

Tom Collomosse, writing in a Nottingham Forest Q&A, has suggested that this would be the case.

Q: Is it possible Murillo leaves this summer

A: “Yes, especially if Forest don’t qualify for the Champions League.”

“The Brazilian is happy both at the club and in the city and signed a new contract in January.

“But he is one of the most sought-after defenders in the Premier League and when elite clubs show interest, it is very difficult for players to ignore it.”

“The ideal scenario at Forest would be for Murillo to do another season, perform brilliantly at the World Cup and perhaps leave for a world-record fee for a defender.”

“But life comes at you fast in this game and there will be interest in Murillo this summer?

One thing is certain: he won’t be cheap.”

The Brazilian defender agreed to a long-term contract extension in January 2025, tying him to Nottingham Forest until the summer of 2029 – a move aimed at preserving his transfer value for the club.

Notably, reports indicate that the new deal does not include a release clause.
