Peter Crouch once playfully suggested that his youngest son with model wife Abbey Clancy could be named after former Liverpool ace Divock Origi.

In 2019, just as Tottenham and the Reds, two of Crouch's previous clubs, faced off in the Champions League final, the couple greeted their newest addition.

The arrival of Jack brought the number of children in the Crouch-Clancy household to four, joining big sister Sophia, born in 2011, and siblings Liberty and Johnny.

Crouch's son celebrates his sixth birthday this Tuesday, though his name was subject to playful suggestions at the hands of his father, who even admitted that Samrat, the name of his favourite curry house, was being considered.

When the Champions League final coincided closely with Jack's birth, the former England star also couldn't resist a bit of humour.

Taking to Twitter on June 3, 2019, Crouch announced: "Our beautiful baby boy was born Monday 3rd June, mother and baby Divock Samrat Crouch are doing well."

Having donned the shirts of Liverpool for 135 matches and almost 100 for Tottenham, Crouch certainly felt a connection to the showpiece clash, where he saw his previous sides compete for glory.

The Champions League final in Madrid was electrified early on as Liverpool were awarded a penalty just 106 seconds into the game thanks to Moussa Sissoko's handball.

Mohamed Salah stepped up and confidently buried the penalty, setting the tone for the rest of the match that only saw its next goal in the dying minutes, courtesy of Origi.

The Reds triumphed 2-0.

Crouch gave a light-hearted nod to the Belgian striker when speaking about his newborn, but later clarified that his wife was having none of the suggestion, saying: "Our boy is beautiful the name is still to be clarified unfortunately Abs not going for Divock Samrat."

That March, Crouch had fun with the news that betting agencies were speculating on the name of his child, mentioning that Samrat was a potential pick.

"One of the bookies is taking bets on names for my little one.

Harry is top," he shared on That Peter Crouch Podcast.

"And at 100/1 was Samrat.

"I've had a good few people saying, 'You've got to do it' - Samrat Crouch.

Shane is actually bigger odds than Samrat."

When probed if his wife Abbey would agree to such a unique name, Crouch responded with a hint of sarcasm, admitting: "She'd be all right with it, yeah."

Following the arrival of Jack, whose name was unveiled a full six weeks post-birth, Crouch faced an inquiry from OK!
