Liverpool ended the 2024/25 season with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, with the Reds finally getting to lift the Premier League trophy.
Arne Slot had a debut year to remember at Anfield as the Dutch manager led Liverpool to only their second-ever Premier League title, with the Merseyside giants confirming their status as champions last month.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold being cheered by Liverpool fans, it was a day of celebration and emotion for supporters, who after much waiting finally got to watch the Reds lift the Premier League trophy at long last.
Yet there was one small blemish on Liverpool’s result against Palace, with that incident surrounding star midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

Gravenberch’s afternoon came to an abrupt end after the Netherlands international saw a straight red card after denying Palace a goal-scoring opportunity, with Liverpool playing with 10 men for over 20 minutes.
As a result, Gravenberch will now miss the first three Premier League games of the 2025/26 season, something that could prove big for Liverpool depending on who they face in these fixtures and if there are any injury problems during pre-season.
Indeed, Alexis Mac Allister missing the last Liverpool games of the season and having an extended break should result in the Argentine international being fully fit for the new campaign, something that will limit the damage of losing Gravenberch for three games.

Yet the suspension could now result in Liverpool delaying one or two departures that the Reds had in mind this summer, with the midfield depth needed more than ever given how important Gravenberch has been this season.
Wataru Endo has been linked with an exit from Liverpool this summer, with the Japanese international hardly featuring for the Reds this season having played a bit-part role in Slot’s plan for the Premier League champions.
Yet with Gravenberch set to miss the first three games of the new Premier League season this summer, Liverpool might see it fit to keep hold of Endo for those fixtures before making the decision to sell the veteran defensive midfielder.
A fan favourite and a player who has never kicked up a fuss despite his lack of playing time, keeping Endo seems like the sensible decision from Liverpool heading into the summer with Gravenberch out for the first three games of the season, a move that could help the Reds get off to an ideal start.
