Allan Rodrigues de Souza faces an uncertain Liverpool future after moving to Brazilian side Fluminese on loan until the end of the season.

The Reds had initially expected the midfielder to spend the campaign on loan at Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, a deal they hoped would bolster their chances of securing a work permit for the 21-year-old.

Allan previously had loan spells with SJK, Sint-Truiden, Hertha Berlin and Apollon Limassol.

However, the midfielder - who signed a new Liverpool contract before moving to Germany - featured for only 174 minutes during a spell hampered by a knee injury suffered in November.

Allan has yet to make an appearance for Liverpool having being signed back in September 2015 for £500,000 from Brazilian side Internacional.

The Reds believed regular football in a top European league with Eintracht would benefit their application of a work permit for the player in 2019.

The player has since spent time in his native Brazil where he held talks with several interested parties before agreeing a short-term deal with Fluminese, who are based in Rio.
