Everton and Liverpool will have to pause their plans for player trading when the window temporarily closes at 7pm on Tuesday, June 10.

Both Merseyside clubs have been able to add to their squad since the first window of the summer opened on Sunday, June 1.

FIFA introduced the 10-day player trading window to allow clubs competing in the Club World Cup to add to their squad before the new-look competition begins in the United States on June 15.

But as FIFA rules stipulate that the transfer window cannot be open for more than 16 weeks in a calendar year, the window is required to close on Tuesday night.

However, the second window of the summer will open in six days' time on Monday, June 16 and allow clubs to add to their squads until September 1.

Since the window opened ten days ago, Liverpool have signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and up-and-coming goalkeeper Armin Pecsi from Hungarian side Puskás Akademia.

The Reds are also working on a club-record transfer to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

So far, the Premier League champions have had several bids rejected by the Bundesliga outfit for the 22-year-old, though reports in Germany claim an agreement between the two sides is close.

Meanwhile, the Reds also used the first transfer window of the summer to secure a £10m fee from Real Madrid to release Trent Alexander-Arnold from his contract early and allow him to feature at the Club World Cup.

Everton, on the other hand, triggered the £15m clause in Carlos Alcaraz's contract to make his loan move permanent, while the Blues have been linked with moves for Manchester City duo Jack Grealish and James McAtee.
