Will Wright’s Liverpool journey began at speed.

Less than 24 hours after joining from Salford City, the 17?year?old made his Anfield debut, replacing Florian Wirtz during the friendly against Athletic Club.

Despite the limited time, Wright nearly found the net and earned an early taste of what it means to be a Liverpool player.

Wright played alongside elite figures such as Mohamed Salah, offering him an instant glimpse of the club’s standards.

Though Salah notably missed a penalty during Wright’s brief stint, the young forward already experienced the intense environment of a top?level dressing room.

Prior to kick-off, Wright shared his excitement on Instagram, writing:

“A proud moment for me and my family to announce I’ve signed for the Premier League champions!”

After the game, he posted again with three more snaps, on?pitch action included, letting the images speak for themselves.

Liverpool’s new forward earned high praise from the Salford City academy.

Jamie Russell, Salford’s Head of Academy, said (via Salford City FC):

“We are absolutely delighted for Will to complete his move… He has earned this opportunity.”

Salford may be a Category 3 club, but their ability to produce talent noticed by Liverpool reflects strong coaching and recruitment.

Wright awaits further opportunity in Liverpool’s U21 setup, joining a pipeline shaped by success stories like Jayden Danns.
