“One that stands out for me in Nunez,” he said.

“If I told you his goal record for Liverpool compared to Benfica, [it’s] obviously [a] harder standard in the Premier League, but he only scored 40 goals in 143 games for Liverpool.

“That’s not a record that a Liverpool striker should have.

“Look at the strikers Liverpool have had in the past.

So I think, for me, Nunez is one that will move on.

“Hopefully, they can get the £50m that they want.”

One of Slot’s main areas to reinforce this summer will no doubt be his striker.

Indeed, both of them would no doubt do a solid job when called upon by Slot, but in reality, if Liverpool want to remain dominant, they need a regular-scoring number nine.

And, even though Nunez has shown on occasion that he can live up to the potential he showed when playing for Benfica, he’s too inconsistent for Liverpool to rely upon.
