Willy Gnonto has sent heartfelt messages to three outgoing Leeds players as Daniel Farke makes major adjustments to his squad ahead of the transfer deadline.

Leeds have needed to be active in the transfer market this summer to give themselves the best chance of survival in the Premier League for the campaign ahead.

Daniel Farke has been after new forward signings in particular to make sure that his side are regularly scoring goals, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been signed on a free transfer, while Noah Okafor recently joined from AC Milan.

Despite those arrivals, Italy international forward Gnonto still looks set to be a consistent starter for the Whites this term, after he was trusted from the off in their first two games back in the top-flight against Everton and Arsenal.

The same cannot be said for a number of his teammates on the fringes, however, and he has now reached out to those that have departed Elland Road after being forced out in the last few days.

Leeds confirmed Patrick Bamford’s departure on Thursday (29 August) with the two parties choosing to mutually cancel his Elland Road contract after he was dropped from Farke’s squad earlier in the summer.

Bamford posted a compilation of his Whites goals on Instagram on Thursday along with the caption: “From me to you,” and Gnonto moved to react to his message by sharing it to his own Instagram story with crying and heart emojis.

Largie Ramazani has also left Leeds to join Valencia on loan this week, and Gnonto also shared a picture of the pair to his Instagram story on Friday (29 August) with the caption: “Your time!” along with heart and fingers crossed emojis.

Gnonto completed a trio of heartfelt messages on his Instagram story on Friday by also posting a picture of teammate Isaac Schmidt, who has moved on loan to Werder Bremen, with the caption: “Mon frere,” which translates to “My brother,” with heart and salute emojis.

Football Insider verdict

The Whites scored 95 goals and garnered 100 points in the Championship last season, so it does feel strange to say that they are still in pretty dire need of new forward additions having kept most of their key attackers.

One player they have lost is Tottenham loanee Manor Solomon, and a deal for him to return does surprisingly not seem likely with Leicester and Sheffield United both interested in Solomon ahead of the deadline.

Farke may already be regretting his decision to let Ramazani leave, as he did show that he had quality last season and could surely have been a decent back-up this term, and new signing Okafor is already injured and has a troubled recent history of being sidelined.

They clearly need to invest in a new forward as soon as possible, but time is running out to secure a fresh face with the deadline just a few short days away.
