The Reds’ 2025-26 season has also got off to an impressive start; however, it’s going to take some time for him to surpass Jurgen Klopp’s legacy at Anfield.

However, for Tyler Morton, it feels like there will never be a better Liverpool manager than Klopp after what the young Englishman said about his former boss.

Morton was another academy player who Klopp entrusted with plenty of game time and, while speaking to French outlet Le Progres, the Englishman showered his former manager with plenty of praise.

Jurgen Klopp was the best coach for my development,” he said.

“I think at that moment, I was ready to play.”

“I’m not saying that no one believed it, but I think I was ready, and Klopp thought so too.”

“He gave me the opportunity to play on the biggest stage for a very big club.”

“He believed in me, allowed me to go out on loan, to develop.”

Although Liverpool may have earned around £15million from the sale of Morton, it’s clear that he was more than ready to be a first-teamer once again.

There have already been multiple occasions this term where Morton has outperformed Liverpool’s midfielders, and after the performance that Wataru Endo put in against Southampton, it’s clear that a new back-up number six will be needed soon.

Morton would have been the perfect back-up for the Dutchman, and even though the Reds may have a buy-back clause in the deal, it still feels like the 22-year-old should’ve been kept around for another season.
