Wolverhampton Wanderers will unveil a tifo in memory of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester City on Saturday night.

The match at the Molineux will be the West Midlands outfit's first since the tragic passing of former star forward Jota and his brother in a car accident in Spain last month.

Since the brother's passing, Wolves, where Jota spent three seasons after signing from Atletico Madrid on an initial loan deal in July 2017, have paid tribute to the forward in a number of different ways and last month inducted him into the club's Hall of Fame.

Prior to last weekend's pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo, Wolves chairman Jeffi Shi and other club officials paid tribute to Jota by laying a floral wreath at Molineux.

Now, Wolves have confirmed their latest plans to honour Jota prior to Saturday's Premier League match against Man City at the Molineux.

Supporters have been encouraged to arrive at their seats early to be in place for the tifo taking place on the South Bank.

The tribute has been organised by supporter group Old Gold Pack, with co-founder Kieran Newey explaining why it was so important for the club to "honour" the "legendary" frontman.

“We wanted to honour Diogo and show what he meant to Wolves fans and to Wolverhampton,” said Newey.

“Football fans come together at times like this to really show the true love they have for players and for football clubs, and we've had donations from across football, but Wolves fans in particular.

“Diogo was one of the legends who helped turn the club around when we really needed it.

It’s going to be emotional for everyone, in the stadium and watching at home, but we believe we’ll get it right.”

Jota's wife, Rute Cardoso, was in attendance at Anfield on Friday night as Liverpool returned to Premier League action for the first time since the forward's passing.

Over the course of the night, several tributes were paid to Jota from both sets of supporters and the Reds' goal-scorers, Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo.
