Liverpool may have had a successful summer in terms of incomings, but they might already be keeping one eye on the next transfer window.

The Reds spent almost £450m over the last few months and now their team looks ready to go and defend their Premier League title.

However, there are still a few gaps within the team that could be exploited or areas of the pitch where they would have liked to make further additions.

One position they did not make additions to was in midfield, with Liverpool believing they already have enough in this department.

That does not mean names were not linked, though, and as expected, most of the ones who were would have added serious quality into the team.

And, there is one in particular who Reds fans would have liked through the door at Anfield, and based on how he performed over the international break, it would be no surprise to see their interest in him accelerate over the next year or so.

The international break is not for everyone and it is understandable as to why, but it does give fans another excuse to watch players they would like to see at the club play.

For Liverpool, there are not many players who would be able to make it into their current first-team squad, but one who would be in with a very good chance is Morgan Rogers.

Rogers had been linked to Liverpool in the summer to some extent, but the Aston Villa star would not be on their radar until next summer at the very earliest.

However, after he shone again for England against Serbia, they might think about stepping up their interest before other teams get there first.

The 23-year-old completed the most dribbles (3) and created the most chances (5), including providing a smart assist for Noni Madueke with a neat flick around the corner.

Not only did he prove that he has the qualities needed to be a Liverpool player in the final third, but his tireless work rate and energy off the ball would also make him an excellent addition to Arne Slot’s side.

For now, he is far too important to Villa for them to let him go, but another strong season for the Reds could see his head turn.

To make it into the front three of a Liverpool team, versatility is one of the key traits required, as without that, it simply would not work.

However, Rogers certainly possesses this in abundance and Slot would love how adaptable he is, with the Englishman capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or off either flank.

With options on either wing slightly light, Rogers would be the perfect addition, especially as he is already Premier League-proven and truly a ‘wonderful’ player.

He would certainly cost a hefty price, but with Harvey Elliott moving the other way for so cheap, there could already be a plan to bring in Rogers in the near future at a slightly lower fee.
