Some worrying reports from Spain has emerged on Real Madrid interest in Liverpool target Milos Kerkez.
The Reds are nearing completion of a deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez after agreeing personal terms as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
The player is said to be delighted at the prospect of joining Liverpool.
Milos Kerkez’s switch to agent Fali Ramadani – who oversaw Federico Chiesa’s transfer to Liverpool in 2024 – could make negotiations for a potential move to Anfield more straightforward.
Simultaneously, Real Madrid face hurdles in their own pursuit of their left-back target in Benfica’s Álvaro Carreras.
The Portuguese club insists on triggering his €50 million release clause, while Madrid prefers a staggered payment structure totaling €30-35 million plus bonuses.
With negotiations stalled, Los Blancos have identified Kerkez as their primary alternative.
At least, that’s what El Chiringuito is reporting with journalist Marcos Benito claiming that Kerkez is the next option for Madrid:
“On the list of left-backs, number one as reported is Alvaro Carreras.
In case the Spaniard’s deal were to have complications, Real Madrid is considering more names including Milos Kerkez.”
“The 21-year-old from Bournemouth has a contract until 2028 and has a transfer market value of 45m.”
“He is another of the full-back that Real Madrid really likes?
It’s true that Liverpool is also interested; they are in negotiations with his agent.”
“It seems the English club has taken the lead in signing him this summer but he’s another name on Real Madrid’s radar to strengthen left-back position.”
Carreras’ potential availability hinges on Benfica’s participation in the Club World Cup, where they aim to retain him until the tournament concludes on July 13.
Madrid’s reluctance to meet the clause could their focus to Kerkez.
In recent years, Liverpool have repeatedly lost out to Real Madrid in the transfer market.
The Reds were strongly interested in both Jude Bellingham and Aurélien Tchouaméni, only to see the English midfielder choose Madrid over Anfield and the Frenchman make a move from Monaco to the Bernabéu despite Liverpool’s pursuit.
The sting is even sharper this summer, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to join Madrid on a free transfer leaving Liverpool with only a nominal compensation fee.
Let’s hope Kerkez won’t become another statistic.
