For the past few seasons, Kostas Tsimikas has been a reliable back-up to Robertson, with the self-proclaimed Greek Scouser one of the Reds’ most consistent performers.
Clubs such as Juventus have been linked with an interest in Tsimikas this term, but with the news about Robertson now emerging, his future is now looking less certain.
“So the other thing you’ve got to think about as well from Robertson’s perspective is, it’s the link with Atletico Madrid, which is a really, really interesting one, is he going to get an opportunity like that again in his career?”
With all the change that is likely to happen at Liverpool this season, keeping players such as Tsimikas around is nothing but a good thing.

With Milos Kerkez likely to come in, Tsimikas will no doubt be the back-up once again, but, on paper, it feels like he’d be able to accept that more than Robertson, even if the Scotsman only has a year left on his current deal.
Only time will tell what the future holds, but on paper, selling Robertson and keeping Tsimikas seems like a solid plan for all those involved.
