David Moyes has been told to watch his words after hitting out at the penalty decision during Leeds United’s victory over Everton.
During what looked set to be a goalless draw between the two sides at Elland Road on Monday, 18 August, Daniel Farke‘s side were given the chance to score from the penalty spot in the closing stages.
James Tarkowski was punished for handball inside the area, with Chris Kavanagh facing plenty of backlash for the decision due to the defender’s attempt to move his arm behind his body.
Former PGMOL boss Keith Hackett felt that Tim Iroegbunam was lucky to still be on the pitch after two caution-able offences, providing further controversial talking points for full-time, but after a second look told MOT Leeds News the penalty call was harsh.
And following the game, Moyes was more than honest in his post-match press conference, slamming the decision and multiple others over the weekend, but Simon Jordan has already had enough of the comments.
Speaking on talkSPORT (19 August), Jordan said: “With all due respect, and it goes for all managers, if his team were getting the advantage, he’d have nothing to say about it.

“If they had a claim that wasn’t given, he’d be saying that a legitimate penalty had been taken away from them.
“I understand that he’s frustrated and he’s been put on the spot, but I guarantee that if you reverse that decision, and the penalty had been given to Everton, you wouldn’t hear a peep from him.
If Everton hadn’t been given a penalty, you’d hear a peep from him.
Jim White asked: “What do you want?
Just blanket acceptance?” to which Jordan continued: “He could also look at the reality of what his team has done, and what they didn’t do.
“Referees make decisions and that’s part and parcel of the game.”
Football Insider verdict
After how much the Toffees impressed under Moyes last season, it was a hugely disappointing performance from the team at Elland Road, especially in the attacking sense.
Beto, who could still leave Everton this summer, was ineffective as the lone striker, unable to bring Iliman Ndiaye, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, or Carlos Alcaraz into the game.
Of course, supporters are waiting for Jack Grealish to be up to full speed following his move from Man City, with the winger bringing plenty of talent, pace, and trickery to the lineup once he’s readily available.
Thierno Barry was also only given a handful of minutes to stamp his mark on the game, despite clearly being a much better striker than Beto, and the Toffees were in need of a goal.
It is far too early for fans to become concerned by performances, but with Aston Villa and Liverpool on the horizon, the team will be given very little time to gel in the Premier League.
Leeds, on the other hand, appeared to be a very well-oiled machine in the clash at Elland Road, and that will be what Moyes is aiming for after getting a few games under his belt.
