Alejandro Garnacho was overjoyed to see his former Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford perform so well for Barcelona in the Champions League against Newcastle United.

On Thursday, 18 September, Marcus Rashford notched a brace as Hansi Flick’s men defeated the Magpies 2-1 at St James’ Park.

In the summer transfer window, both Garnacho and the 27-year-old were offloaded by Man United amid Ruben Amorim’s rebuild at Old Trafford.

However, Man United fans were ashamed to see Rashford excel for Barcelona, after he was deemed surplus to requirements by the North West side.

After excelling in Barcelona’s 2-1 win at Newcastle, Rashford will hope to start for Flick’s side in La Liga against Getafe on Sunday, 21 September.

The England winger took to Instagram on 18 September as he wrote: “Great way to kick off the Champions League.”

Meanwhile, Garnacho was told by Amorim that he’d ‘better pray’ another club wanted to sign him after he fell out with the Red Devils boss.

In his final season with the Old Trafford club, the 21-year-old scored 11 goals and produced 10 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions.

The winger will likely be determined to showcase his attacking prowess on Saturday, 20 September, when Chelsea travel to the North West for their fifth Premier League game of the season.

Enzo Maresca’s men must get back on form after being held to a 2-2 draw by Brentford in their last top-flight outing, while they were beaten 3-1 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, 17 September.
