Xabi Alonso is open to Rodrygo leaving Real Madrid this summer, according to reports.
The winger played a peripheral role in the team during the Club World Cup earlier this summer, and Rodrygo has been repeatedly linked with an exit in the transfer window.
Liverpool is among the clubs to be linked with Rodrygo, although that looks unlikely given the Reds’ priority in the market is not currently to add a winger.
Luis Diaz’s departure does leave Liverpool light on options in the wide areas, but with Rio Ngumoha expected to play a more senior role this term and options such as Jeremie Frimpong, Dominik Szoboszlai and Hugo Ekitike able to play on the flanks, a move for Rodrygo seems unrealistic.

The Athletic claims “both the club and Alonso are open to Rodrygo leaving”, with the Real boss and his coaching staff are not happy with the player.
While Rodrygo is said to have indicated he wants to remain in the Spanish capital, he is working with agent Pini Zahavi, which could hint that a summer move is possible.
The Brazilian’s role in the Real side has come under increasing scrutiny since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu last year.

Liverpool reportedly reached out to the player’s representatives earlier this summer, but there have been no suggestions that talks between the Reds and Real took place.
