Xabi Alonso has dropped a bombshell by reportedly knocking back Liverpool AND Bayern Munich at once.

The Bayer Leverkusen boss is hot property as he zeroes in on a Bundesliga title. They have a ten-point lead and if they hold onto it for the final 12 games, they will break Bayern's longstanding dominance of German football. Alonso's impressive rise has run parallel to situations at Liverpool and Bayern that have both clubs looking for new managers this summer.

He was first tipped for an emotional return to Anfield to replace Jurgen Klopp when he steps down. On Thursday, it emerged that Bayern had moved ahead of Liverpool as favourites to land him as Thomas Tuchel's replacement. But now reports from multiple outlets claim that Alonso has decided to STAY at Leverkusen and lead them into the Champions League next season.

It's being widely reported that Liverpool, with new sporting director Richard Hughes at the helm, will look to Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim instead.
