Chelsea fans are convinced the club are closing in on the signing of RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons after a cryptic social media update sparked fresh excitement.
The 22-year-old enjoyed another outstanding campaign in Germany last season, now registering 21 goals and 21 assists since his arrival at Leipzig in 2023.
Despite his individual brilliance, the Bundesliga side could only manage a seventh-place finish, and it now seems Simons may be eyeing a move elsewhere.
Chelsea have shown interest in a deal but Football Insider revealed last month that Leipzig are demanding £60million for Simons’ signature.
With the Blues in search of a versatile forward and a creative presence in midfield, the Dutch international ticks all the boxes.
Talks are said to be ongoing between the two clubs, and now fans are hopeful a deal is edging closer after Simons dropped what many believe to be a telling hint on his social media.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on X that Simons has removed RB Leipzig from his Instagram bio, and stated the move was intentional.

He described the change as a “transfer message”, adding that the Dutchman “wants [the] Chelsea move”.
Negotiations between the two clubs are said to be advanced, though an agreement has yet to be finalised.
The former PSG talent would be a perfect fit for Enzo Maresca’s system, having operated both on the left flank and as an attacking midfielder last season and contributing to 19 goals and assists in the Bundesliga alone.
Although Chelsea have already added the likes of Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro this summer, the club remain intent on bolstering their attacking options, particularly after Noni Madueke’s recent departure.
There is some uncertainty over whether Leipzig will sanction a second major departure, with Benjamin Sesko also close to leaving the club this summer.
That may explain why Simons has taken to social media rather than submitting a formal transfer request, with many interpreting the bio change as a signal of intent.
Arsenal had previously shown interest in Simons, but their focus now appears to be on Eberechi Eze, leaving Chelsea in pole position.
After the latest update, Blues supporters are increasingly confident that a deal is imminent.
