Chelsea fans may not have to wait long until RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons is announced as a new player at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old has become one of the most sought-after players in world football since moving to the Bundesliga, where he has notched 21 goals and 21 assists in 76 appearances for Leipzig.
Football Insider revealed last month to Chelsea and Arsenal that £60million would be required for the Dutchman’s signature this summer, and the Gunners have spent their funds elsewhere since.
Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke are the latest arrivals at the Emirates Stadium, and with the latter moving from West London, there could be an open seat with Simons’ name on.
Despite already doing deals for Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens, all being orchestrated by Cole Palmer from the attacking midfield role, the Blues are not finished in the summer transfer market.
Winning the Club World Cup title in America also meant £84m in prize money, and with finance expert Kieran Maguire taking a shine to Chelsea’s transfer dealings, there could be more to come.

With these additions, fans are expecting some outgoings, too, and Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Man United could agree a £60m deal for Nicolas Jackson amid Premier League interest.

Christopher Nkunku, Marc Guiu, Raheem Sterling, Kiernan Dewbury-Hall, and Carney Chukwuemeka are all linked with summer exits, and their departures would open the door for the expected arrival of Simons.
While the 22-year-old featured and scored in friendly victories over Santos and ZFC Meuselwitz this summer, he was nowhere to be seen as the German giants lost 2-1 to Atalanta on Saturday, 2 August.
The player’s “neck pain” was cited as the reason for his absence from the matchday squad, but with the removal of the club from his social media, fans are ready for the attacker to join up with Maresca’s side.

Newcastle United are facing a similar difficulty with Alexander Isak, who wants to push through a move to Liverpool, though that situation is far more public than Eddie Howe will have wished for.
With Todd Boehly clearly ready to splash more cash on transfers, it could be just a matter of time before Simons is unveiled as the latest arrival in West London, or at least fans are hoping so.
Expect him to be wearing the Chelsea kit very soon.
