Yoane Wissa makes bold Newcastle demand as Premier League rival attempts to hijack move

Fri 29 August 2025 8:43, UK

Yoane Wissa has made a demand to Newcastle as he continues to force through a move to St James’ Park, whilst a Premier League rival is plotting a last minute hijack.

Wissa has made his intentions clear this summer to leave Brentford after four seasons at the West London club.

The 28-year-old has refused to train at Brentford and has been unavailable for the Bees’ first two Premier League fixtures.

Keith Andrews confirmed Wissa would miss the trip to Sunderland, but made clear his intentions that he wants the forward to stay at the club.

As per the Daily Mail, Wissa remains keen on a move to Newcastle, but that Brentford must sign a forward to replace him before the transfer window shuts in three days time.

Brentford have showed interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Max Beier, with England manager Thomas Tuchel having spoken to the club about the player.

Wissa has demanded the number nine shirt if he moves to Newcastle, with his desire to play Champions League football and work under Eddie Howe.

Wissa has being trying to get his wish to join Newcastle for over a month now, and Newcastle have remained patient despite their urgent need for attacking reinforcements.

It feels like a deal could be done before the window shuts, though a late move from Spurs may hinder Newcastle’s plans.

Frank has that relationship with Wissa from their time together at Brentford, where the forward was effective under his managerial guidance.

Both club’s can offer Champions League football, and Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade deal has increased competition for places at the Toon.

Brentford look set to lose Wissa either way, in a huge blow to their attack, but their 1-0 victory over Aston Villa demonstrated Andrews can adapt without the star.

The Bees are already preparing for life without Wissa despite Andrew’s desire for him to stay, and there could be late activity to bolster their attack.
