We are closing in on transfer deadline day.

It becomes a time of silent panic, as players and clubs look to finalise last minute deals that they believe will strengthen their teams ahead of a new season.

When it comes to Liverpool, we are right in the thick of it.

Yesterday, Liverpool sent an official offer for Marc Guehi, as they look to strike a cut-price deal for Crystal Palace’s captain who sees his contract expire next summer.

Negotiations for that deal are still ongoing.

Alexander Isak is still a significant topic of discussion, but that deal depends on several factors, with one of them being if Yoane Wissa completes the switch from Brentford to Newcastle United.

The Magpies have their eyes set on the Congolese forward or Jorgen Strand Larsen of Wolves.

If they are to sign one or even both, that will majorly increase the possibility that Alexander Isak can leave the club.

A significant event has happened this morning that may push along any potential exit for Yoane Wissa – a sign of great optimism for Liverpool Football Club.

The Congolese forward has today released a public statement via his social media channels detailing how he wishes to leave Brentford and join Newcastle United immediately.

The statement in full reads:

“Over the past few weeks, there has been increased speculation about my future at Brentford Football Club.

I believe the club are unduly standing in my way despite a series of fair offers throughout the summer.”

“I have always given 100 percent for Brentford since the day I signed back in 2021.

This was also put in writing.”

“Based on this understanding, I sought to find a new club, keeping Brentford informed with full transparency at every step.

It saddens me to have to write that, and I maintain total respect for the club and its fans.”

“I want to make it clear that I have not acted unprofessionally, nor do I wish to leave Brentford on bad terms.

In the meantime, I must do what I feel is right for my career and family and insist that Brentford honour keep their word to let me join a new club and at a fair price.”

“I want to thank all the Brentford fans for their support and understanding during this difficult situation.

It’s about being allowed to move forward with Brentford’s blessing based on a repeated commitment made that I could leave for a new chapter this summer.”

“Being made to stay beyond this summer will only tarnish four wonderful years at this incredible club and so I ask Brentford’s owners and directors to now keep their word to let me leave in the final hours of the window.”
