Yoane Wissa throwing his toys out the pram will almost certainly signify the end of his Brentford career after an improved offer from Newcastle.
Despite raking in tens of millions during the transfer window, the Bees are on their knees as their squad continues to be depleted.
Losing talisman Bryan Mbeumo to Man United did net the west London side a whopping £65million (BBC Sport), but little has been done to reinvest and find a replacement.
Moreover, the sales of captain Christian Norgaard to Arsenal and Mark Flekken to Bayer Leverkusen has turned the Gtech Stadium into a desolate and uninspiring place.
With the final integral component to the Bees’ success last season Wissa going on strike as he pushes a move away to Newcastle, Keith Andrews could be facing relegation in his first season in charge.

The Congolese forward made his intentions clear after attending training on 31 July for just three hours, Sky Sports understands.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 28 July that Newcastle are pushing to sign Wissa, and this still remains the case as they line up an improved bid.
Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider on 2 August that the Toon are unlikely to walk away from the deal with an agreement able to be agreed.
In particular, Newcastle are aware Brentford are holding out for an improved offer for their star forward.
O’Rourke said: “The deal isn’t anywhere near dead, the key thing is Wissa is interested in a move to Newcastle.
“He has made his unhappiness clear to Brentford, he’s left their pre-season training camp for talks.
“He’s trying to force this move to Newcastle and that’s encouraging for Newcastle, he’s doing everything he can to push through a move to St James’ Park.
“Newcastle aren’t going to walk away from this after having one bid rejected, they will make an improved offer for him.”

In spite of spending four seasons in west London, it is becoming increasingly clear that the bridge is burnt between the Congolese and the club.
Instead of rocking up to training and continuing to work hard for the team, the African is putting himself first by seeking to further his own career.
Andrews will want a squad of committed players and can’t have the ex-Lorient man loitering in his team if his head has been turned to join the Magpies.
Quite simply, it is extremely hard to envision Wissa ever playing again for the Bees.

Given the ongoing Alexander Isak situation, Eddie Howe has identified Brentford’s Premier League top-scorer to replace the Swede.
An improved offer should be enough to take the sensational striker away from the Gtech Stadium, especially with the tempting offer of Champions League football.
I just can’t see the benefit of holding on to the attacker when he definitely won’t sign a contract extension with his current deal set to expire in 2026.
Cash in now, ship him off to Tyneside and buy a new forward must be the protocol for the Bees before the window shuts and relegation dawns on them before it is too late.
