Liverpool star Mo Salah has surprisingly revealed that he sees rivals Arsenal as favourites to win the Premier League this season.
Salah fired the Reds to Premier League glory ahead of the Gunners last season with an outstanding 29 goals and 18 assists in 39 appearances.
The Egyptian winger has been a key man for Liverpool for a number of years, and is widely considered to be one of the best top-flight players of all time, as well as one of the best players in the world right now.
Arne Slot has moved to add to his already strong Reds squad this summer, with Florian Wirtz joining from Bayer Leverkusen for a British record fee of £116million [Sky Sports] alongside the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.
Arsenal have also made waves in the transfer market with Viktor Gyokeres moving to the North London outfit from Sporting CP, while Noni Madueke and Martin Zubimendi have also bolstered his wing and midfield options respectively.
Both sides started the 2025/26 campaign with wins over Bournemouth and Man United respectively, but Salah has backed the Gunners to win the league to end their trophy drought under Mikel Arteta.

Salah has been nominated for the 2024/25 PFA Players Player of the Year award after his impressive exploits last season, with the ceremony taking place in Manchester on Tuesday (19 August) evening.

The 33-year-old talked to the PFA‘s official social media channels prior to the start of the awards on Tuesday, and he revealed his thoughts on the Gunners’ title chances after the interviewer had revealed that he was supported them, saying: “I think you have a great team this season, also last season, so you have a really good chance.
“I think you are favourites now because you have players that have been together for five years, so I can say it.
I can say I wish you luck, but hopefully we do it again.”

Football Insider verdict
Salah is understandably playing down his side’s chances of a consecutive Premier League title, but deep down he will surely be targeting another success on Merseyside after their impressive business and their good start to the new season.
Liverpool have addressed nearly all of the areas that they needed to, which admittedly wasn’t many after they cruised to the title last term, with only really another centre-back needed to complete their summer.

Even if Liverpool are unable to bring in a new centre-back, amid serious interest in Marc Guehi, they will arguably feel more pressured by Man City than Arsenal right now after Pep Guardiola’s side were rampant against Wolves on the opening weekend with a 4-0 win.
The Gunners have made some decent signings, but they were relatively poor against Man United, especially compared to Liverpool and City, and based off all current evidence, it would come as somewhat of a surprise to see them pip either to the title come next May.
