Tottenham have been ruthlessly ridiculed for their petulance after losing out to Arsenal for the signature of Eberechi Eze.
After it had appeared the deal between Eze and Tottenham was finalised, rivals Arsenal seem to have swooped in to steal the Crystal Palace talisman away from them.
In potentially his last Premier League game for the Eagles, Eze was seen waving goodbye to Crystal Palace fans in their 0-0 draw with Chelsea amid his uncertain future.
Yet, after seeing the Eze in Arsenal colours “here we go” announcement, Spurs fans are appalled by the penny-pinching tactics of chairman Daniel Levy.
Former Chelsea player Jason Cundy saw the funny side of things as he mocked Lilywhites fans for failing once again in transfer pursuits.

Discussing the unbelievable failings of Spurs and their underwhelming negotiations for the Eagles’ main man on talkSPORT (20 August), the ex-Tottenham centre-back came on air to mock his former team by wearing a clown outfit with a red nose.
A fan called in to vent his frustrations with Cundy describing Tottenham as: “Just a bunch of clowns mate, that’s the problem.”

The enraged caller continued to rant about missing out on Eze and potentially going after Southampton’s Tyler Dibling as the co-presenter added to his appearance with a spotted yellow hat, telling the supporter: “Good player, don’t knock him [Dibling].”
Later in the conversation to add to the mocking, Cundy added: “You’re [Tottenham] just Newcastle of the south.”

Football Insider verdict
Being second best to transfer targets is something Spurs fans are all too familiar given the array of missed players under the Levy administration.
Whilst one can argue against the chairman being a penny-pincher given the extensive amount of money invested in a new stadium and players in every transfer window, the Lilywhites have also struggled to get ready-made top quality players through the door.
Either the transfer policy has been to target youth prodigies for tomorrow who rarely come good or to bring a plan B or a plan C option to plug the gaps.

Knowing the importance of a replacement number 10 in the aftermath of James Maddison’s injury, the Eze deal should have been sorted straight after the unfortunate likely end to the former Leicester man’s 2025-26 season.
However, as per usual, Levy was reluctant and sloth-like in his hunt for the Eagles talisman, allowing Arsenal to swoop in and steal one of England’s finest stars.
Cundy is right to laugh at our club, we are quite frankly an abomination of a football team with little to no ambition, even after winning the Europa League!
