“When I did my ACL at Liverpool, that was in 2018. At that point [in 2018] I was really doing well, so when I got the injury it was a bigger story.
“There’s been spells where I’ve not been playing well, and had I got injured then when I was out the team and I wasn’t starting at Liverpool, would people have noticed the fact I got injured as much? “My injuries were always contact – I got smashed and I got injured, and it always seemed to be them that kept me out for a long spell.
“I come back, and I get to that level, which I think shows you’re not an injury-prone player. It’s not a nice situation for any footballer to be in, but I’m fortunate enough that I’ve put myself into a situation to choose what’s best for me, and I’ve said no to things,” said Oxlade-Chamberlain.
