Liverpool have opened talks with Alexis Mac Allister‘s representatives over a new long-term contract as part of their wider plans to tie down Arne Slot‘s key midfielders. Mac Allister signed a five-year deal upon his move from Brighton to Liverpool in 2023, meaning he still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his current terms.

According to the Mail‘s Lewis Steele, talks are now underway over a new deal for the World Cup winner, though he describes these as “very preliminary” at this stage. This comes with Liverpool also looking to agree new terms with Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch, while Curtis Jones will almost certainly be in line for a new deal too.

There has been speculation over a possible move to Real Madrid but Steele maintains that Mac Allister “loves playing for Liverpool” and there is no indication he would look to move on. Why are Liverpool offering Alexis Mac Allister a new contract?
