Liverpool cannot simply sign any player just to fill a gap, because short-term solutions have never been part of the plan.Signing a player only for the six months or so that Ekitike might be sidelined would then leave someone unwanted on the books. Moving them on is not easy.Equally, though, Liverpool would be taking a huge risk by not bringing anyone in.
