SportFootballLiverpool FCLiverpool have appointed Andoni Iraola as their new head coach who is about to be handed a dream scenario ahead of his first season in chargeAndoni Iraola is Liverpool's new head coach and could be about to benefit from a plan that Fenway Sports Group have been building towards for some time. The Reds confirmed the news that Iraola has become the club’s new boss on Thursday, replacing Arne Slot, who was sacked last weekend.Iraola has signed a two-year contract to become Liverpool’s new coach, with the appointment coming after the 43-year-old left his role at Bournemouth at the end of the season. The Spanish coach will now get to work on preparing Liverpool for the start of next season, and will have plenty of talent at his disposal.Iraola will be forced to deal with players in his newly-inherited squad not all being available straight away, with many taking part in the World Cup this summer and their return for pre-season will be delayed.Liverpool will also be expected to be in the market for new signings to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, but Iraola may be about to benefit from plans already put in motion by the club’s owners.Last summer saw Liverpool invest more than £400millon in new signings, with Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman and Armin Pesci all moving to Anfield. It was also during the January transfer window that Liverpool agreed a £60million deal with Rennes to sign defender Jeremy Jacquet, with the centre-back officially moving to Anfield this summer.Four of last summer’s signings had no experience of playing in the Premier League before their arrival, and will now have had a year under their belt to get accustomed to English football. Not to mention, all of the new signings will have had a year to get used to playing for Liverpool, their new teammates and the demands that are placed upon them.Jacquet will still have to adjust to playing for Liverpool, with Iraola now set to be the manager who hands the young defender his debut for the club.FOLLOW OUR LIVERPOOL FC FACEBOOK PAGE!

All the latest news and analysis from Anfield on the Liverpool Echo's dedicated LFC Facebook pageWhat Iraola will have to deal with, though, is the departures of some key players. Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate will all leave the club and it's unclear at this point if any more players will head for the exit door this summer. It remains to be seen which signings Liverpool will make this summer, but Iraola will certainly hope to benefit from the business that FSG and the club put in place during last year’s transfer market.A pre-season tour of the United States will give Iraola a chance to assess his squad, but it won’t be until the squad is fully assembled after the World Cup that the new manager will be able to fully implement his vision for the season ahead.Get Liverpool's new 2026/27 home kitThis article contains affiliate links, we will receive a commission on any sales we generate from it.
