Antoine Semenyo, the Bournemouth forward, has a £65 million release clause that becomes active during the January transfer window, attracting strong interest from Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur. Despite heavy speculation and failed transfer attempts last summer, Semenyo signed a new five-year contract with Bournemouth, which includes this release clause. The clause comprises £60 million plus £5 million in add-ons and is only valid up to a specific deadline in January, after which the fee would decrease, particularly in the summer of 2026.

Since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 for around £10 million, Semenyo has become a key attacking figure under manager Andoni Iraola. He has scored 26 goals and provided 12 assists in just under 100 Premier League appearances, mainly thriving on the right wing with 11 goals in 36 appearances there. Semenyo showed his quality during Bournemouth’s opening-day victory against Liverpool, scoring twice in the match that ended with a dramatic comeback by the Reds.

Liverpool have already held exploratory talks with Bournemouth to understand the club’s stance and the potential terms of a deal for Semenyo. While Bournemouth currently plans to hold onto their star player, they may be compelled to accept a January bid if the release clause is triggered. The club needs to act quickly to use the clause and secure a replacement in time. If the club resists in January, Semenyo may still be available later at a potentially lower fee.

It is also noted that Bristol City, Semenyo’s former club, is entitled to 20% of any profit Bournemouth makes on his sale. Despite rumors about Semenyo pushing for an exit, he reportedly respects Bournemouth and understands that a move will happen if he continues to perform at a high level, facilitated by the release clause in his contract.
