Arabian Falcons have officially signed former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, marking a significant addition to their squad in the UAE Second Division League. Shelvey, an experienced central midfielder, joined the club on 27 September 2025, bringing his extensive playing career and leadership skills to the team.

Jonjo Shelvey began his professional career at Charlton Athletic, where he made history as the club's youngest-ever player at just over 16 years old. In 2010, he transferred to Liverpool for £1.7 million and had a brief loan spell at Blackpool. During his time at Liverpool, Shelvey was part of the squad that won the League Cup and reached the FA Cup final in 2012.

Following his tenure with Liverpool, Shelvey moved to Swansea City in 2013 for £5 million and subsequently joined Newcastle United for £12 million in 2015. At Newcastle, he quickly became an influential figure, serving as stand-in captain during Fabricio Coloccini’s absence and later as vice captain. He played a key role in helping Newcastle regain Premier League status after their relegation.

After leaving Newcastle in 2023, Shelvey had spells at several clubs, including Nottingham Forest, Turkish sides Çaykur Rizespor and Eyüpspor, and Burnley, before making his move to the Arabian Falcons.

Internationally, Shelvey has represented England across multiple youth levels, captaining the under-19 team, and earned his first senior cap in 2012. His signing is anticipated to bring both experience and midfield stability to the Arabian Falcons as they continue their campaign in the UAE football system.
