But the extent of his back problem became uncertain on Friday when Slot confirmed that Wirtz would not be involved and that he did not know when he would be fit again.Liverpool coped without their playmaker against West Ham, plundering five goals via Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and an own goal from Axel Disasi. But any hopes that Wirtz could return to action in the first of two trips to Molineux next week were dismissed by Slot.

When asked for an update on the 22-year-old during his post-match press conference, Slot said: "I think that will be too early [Tuesday against Wolves], but I said last week that I did not expect him not to be avaiable for today, so sometimes in an injury things can develop in a positive way or a negative way."Now we are thinking it doesn't have to take too long, but Tuesday will probably be too early. The week after will be tight, as things stand now, but as I said, I thought that he would be available for today as well, which didn't happen unfortunately."Liverpool will face Wolves twice in a week when they first head to the West Midlands on Tuesday in the Premier League, before returning three days later for an FA Cup Fifth Round tie.The Reds will then travel to Istanbul for their Champions League Round of 16 first leg tie against Galatasaray, and Wirtz will be hoping that he is on the plane to Istanbul by the time that fixture comes around.FOLLOW OUR LIVERPOOL FC FACEBOOK PAGE!
