Slot left Anfield just over a month ago and just over a year after he masterminded Liverpool’s second Premier League title.

Given his early success, it was expected that the Reds would keep faith with Slot but he was axed at the end of May, with former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola replacing him. The process of replacing Ronald Koeman is still in its early days and Slot is one of several candidates, though he has been the bookies favourite for the job since the Netherlands crashed out of the World Cup.
