Arne Slot is now into his second Premier League season and he has explained that one rule in particular annoys him “a bit,” but that he would have gladly seen it enforced at Galatasaray. For Liverpool’s head coach, it is the protocol that sees players who receive on-pitch treatment have to leave the field for at least 30 seconds.

When talking to Sky Sports about his options from the bench, Slot said: “The game against Galatasaray in the first hour I was waiting for us to score a goal, but after I made the substitutions that last half hour we hardly created a chance. “Sometimes in the Premier League I’m a bit annoyed by the rule that if a player gets injury treatment he has to go out for 30 seconds, because sometimes he definitely needs one (treatment).

“But after playing this week in Galatasaray, I would have loved to have that rule in the Champions League as well because I think they were four or five times on the floor with treatment of one minute. There is a caveat to the rule that sees players have to come off the pitch and that is when an offending player is shown a yellow card, but whether it discourages feigning injuries will have a difference of opinions.
