Arne Slot has given a positive injury update on Ryan Gravenberch despite the Liverpool midfielder being ruled out of the midweek Champions League trip to Eintracht Frankfurt. Gravenberch was replaced in the second half of Liverpool’s defeat against Manchester United on Sunday after rolling his ankle.
But Slot has eased concerns about the severity of the injury and claimed Gravenberch could be back in time to face Brentford this weekend. So, unfortunately, he's not ready to play tomorrow,” Slot told Liverpool’s website, after his pre-match press conference had to be canceled due to a delayed flight caused by "technical issues with the aircraft".
"But it's an ankle injury, we have to wait and see, give him a bit of time and see where he is when we come back from Frankfurt." Gravenberch has started Liverpool's last nine league and European games and his absence means Slot will have to reshuffle his midfield. As for Gravenberch's potential return at Brentford on Saturday, that would be a welcome boost given the Bees' performance in Monday's 2-0 win against West Ham United.
