(Credit: Imago) Sun 31 May 2026 20:30, UK Celtic’s Scottish Premiership title victory could yet be taken away from them and awarded to Hearts amid an ongoing enquiry. That is according to Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the investigation into the way the game ended could still return a positive “outcome” for the Jambos. The former CEO has suggested that the game was abandoned by referee Don Robertson during the pitch invasion from Celtic fans, rather than brought to a close on the official’s terms.

It’s not necessarily the end of the game properly,” he said.“To me, the game was still abandoned, and I still think there are some open issues here. There’s a full inquiry still active, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see an outcome in terms of Hearts.

“I’ve still got question marks about how that game was ended. I’m afraid the video and the audio left more questions than answers.”Could Celtic still be stripped of league title?Wyness previously told Football Insider that a suspended points deduction is Celtic’s most likely punishment for the pitch invasion, which wouldn’t take effect until the start of the 2026-27 campaign. He suggested that if it is determined that the game was abandoned, rather than the full-time whistle blown, the title should be handed to Hearts retrospectively, in order to set a precedent for fans’ behaviour moving forward.
