(Credit: Imago) Thu 20 November 2025 14:22, UK Chelsea could be nearing the end of their long wait to agree a new front of shirt sponsorship deal which can only be positive news financially for the club. That is according to football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley who exclusively told Football Insider why Chelsea should now be looking to build a long-term relationship with a new sponsor.Chelsea have been without a front of shirt sponsor this season, despite their on-field success from the previous campaign which saw them win the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup.Enzo Maresca’s side have also qualified for the Champions League this season and currently sit in the Premier League top four.Credit: IMAGOShirt deal would be ‘good news’ for ChelseaReports have emerged of Oracle taking over as Chelsea’s primary sponsor, in a deal that could be confirmed soon.Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Plumley states that such a deal can only be viewed as good for the club despite the time that is being taken to confirm an agreement.“Your front of share sponsorship is still probably the biggest commercial deal you’ve got, and that’s historically been the case,” Plumley said. “So it’s that, you know, every little helps scenario and all money into the club is good money for them. “If that is announced and it’s in a ballpark that they’ve at least commanded before or is as part with some of those, you know, big six Premier League clubs, then that’s good news for them if that’s the way it’s gone.” Chelsea have aimed to get £60million from any front of shirt sponsorship deal, but any agreement achieved now could be in the region of £45m.Credit: Getty ImagesChelsea behind Liverpool commerciallyMeanwhile, Liverpool could renew their deal with Standard Chartered for a huge £70m, with the London-based Bank having sponsored the Reds since 2010.Plumley believes Chelsea, like other clubs, could also benefit from entering into a long-term partnership with a brand.“We’ve seen the benefits of a long-term relationship with Liverpool haven’t we and what that can do for you, and it can increase that margin as well,” Plumley said.“I’m still a firm believer that somebody will sponsor a football club for the front of shirt, and if you were to lose a sponsor, you would get another one in time.
“But the relationship piece is important because it kind of gives you that potential long-lasting effect, and also, it just takes a little bit of the risk out of it if you know you’ve got a deal that’s locked in for a couple of years. “You can work on the relationship, build it, and then hopefully, you know, you renew.”
