Although Frimpong started well with Liverpool, his injury hindered his progress, and since then, both Dominik Szoboszlai and Conor Bradley have been chosen over the former Bayer Leverkusen man at right-back.

In fact, while speaking on BBC Sport’s Football Daily Podcast, Sutton thinks that Frimpong’s “poor defending” is one of the main reasons why Slot isn’t all that keen on him. He took Bradley off, Szoboszlai to right back and Frimpong stayed on the bench,” he said.“He eventually did come on and was part of that, you know, his poor defending.“It was amazing, and that’s probably why he’s not having him because that was an amazing decision from Frimpong in that moment to actually even have in his mind to start moving forward when his job as a right back is to, you know, essentially defend.

The Dutchman brings the same assets to Liverpool’s team as the Englishman did, with his attacking prowess one of the main aspects of his game. At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen with the Dutchman in the future, but with Bradley and Szoboszlai now competing for the right-back spot, he’ll certainly have to find some consistency in his performances.
