He was the Premier League’s best player by a country mile last term, and if Liverpool had got further in the Champions League, he’d have been one of the top contenders for the 2025 Ballon d’Or. However, when Salah played against Man United on Sunday, it felt like he didn’t know how to shoot at all.

He skied multiple chances, and every time he was passed the ball, he never managed to do anything with it. And now, while speaking on BBC Sport’s Football Daily Podcast, Sutton has claimed that the attacker looks like he’s “got his boots on the wrong feet” this season.“Mo Salah has got his boots on the wrong feet this season, all that stuff about a new deal, and he just hasn’t found any sort of form,” he said.“Having said all that, Liverpool still could have won the game.

Although what Sutton said may have been a tad harsh, it does feel like he’s been half the player he was last season. Each time the Italian has been brought on, he’s managed to change the game in one way or another, and he’s sometimes even been the reason why Liverpool have earned all three points.
