Speaking on YouTube [via TEAMtalk], Romano claimed that interest in the Liverpool midfielder could emerge in the summer transfer window, meaning he is far from definite to stay at Anfield: “There are some clubs starting to look at the situation of Alexis Mac Allister at Liverpool. Mac Allister situation could be interesting this summer in case of good proposals for Liverpool and for the player.

This doesn’t mean that Mac Allister is out of Liverpool project. Liverpool have a big call to make with Mac Allister if a club do make an offer for him, weighing up whether he is past his best or if he has simply had a bad season in a struggling team under Arne Slot.

There is a chance that Mac Allister doesn’t have the legs he once did, though, which means he would struggle to thrive in Iraola’s high-octane style of play. If a club make a huge bid for Mac Allister, Liverpool have to consider accepting it, but if that doesn’t happen, or they decide to retain his services, the hope is that he returns to his very best after a year of struggles.
