Liverpool may have made a mistake by signing Alexander Isak from Newcastle in the summer transfer window. And, to make things worse, Isak has now injured his groin, and he could miss Liverpool’s next game or two, which will set back his fitness once again.

At the time, most Liverpool fans were happy with this fee, especially since he was an out-and-out goalscorer and was arguably one of the Premier League’s best players last term. To be fair to the Sweden international, he did put in a decent performance on Wednesday when used alongside Hugo Ekitike up top, but, due to his injury, Reds fans only got to see 45 minutes of that partnership. It’s still unclear whether Isak will be available against Brentford, but if he is, Slot should stick with his new 4-4-2 formation and try the duo upfront together once again.

Although Liverpool signed two of the best prospects, it’s hard not to think about whether the Reds would have been better off signing someone such as Osimhen.
