An attacking right-back by trade, Esdaille has also been trusted at centre-back this season. An England youth international, he has already had a taste of continental competition with two starts for the U19s in the UEFA Youth League this campaign against Atletico Madrid and MSK Zilina.Speaking to the club’s media after signing, Esdaille admitted he is “buzzing” to commit his future to Liverpool:“Obviously I’m buzzing to sign for my boyhood club,” Esdaille said.“It’s been a long journey, coming in since the age of 10, I came in from grassroots. The longer and older I’ve got, I’ve progressed very well through the age groups, so it’s been good.”He added: “I haven’t been lucky with injuries but that’s just motivation for the next season coming up.

I can’t wait for it.”Esdaille’s deal continues a busy period of academy contract activity at Kirkby, following fellow talents Joe Upton and Finn Inglethorpe in recently signing professional terms.Mdfielder Upton, an 18-year-old Merseysider who has been with Liverpool since the age of six, is a hard-working presence in front of the back four and has captained the U18s while featuring in every UEFA Youth League game this season.Meanwhile, Inglethorpe, a 17-year-old forward from Wirral, has been at the club since pre-Academy level and is the son of Academy director Alex Inglethorpe. With Esdaille now added to that list, Liverpool’s production line shows no sign of slowing as the club continues to lock down its most exciting academy prospects for the future.
