Dominik Szoboszlai has proved himself invaluable to Liverpool this season and the club have begun preliminary talks over a new long-term contract for their No. Szoboszlai’s influence on Liverpool has been unparalleled this season, and even during the miserable run of six defeats in seven games he stood out as one of the few consistent performers.

It should come as no surprise, then, that The Athletic‘s Gregg Evans reports the commencement of talks over a new contract for the 25-year-old. Those conversations are described as preliminary and a breakthrough is not viewed as imminent, but given his current deal runs to 2028 it highlights Liverpool’s desire to tie Szoboszlai down for the long term.

No Liverpool player has clocked more minutes on the pitch this season than Szoboszlai, who has played every minute of his 15 appearances so far. Who else Liverpool are likely to hold contract talks with Like Szoboszlai and Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister‘s terms also expire in 2028 and it is logical that negotiations will take place over an extension to his deal in the near future.
