Liverpool fans had not expected much from this year’s summer transfer deadline day, and there were no surprises from the Reds, who failed to do anything much of note.Supporters had been desperately hoping for a last-minute arrival at right-back, in midfield or in attack, but Liverpool decided they have enough to last them until January at least.Just how big a mistake that is will be found out in due course, but at least the Reds have the arrival of wonderkid goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans to look forward to, with the Belgian joining on deadline day before being loaned back to Genk. With Brughmans the only arrival, Liverpool also sanctioned two departures on the last day of the window.
