Liverpool’s next game will be in the Premier League after they wrapped up pre-season with a 2-0 win over Como on Sunday. The Reds played six games in total during their first summer under Andoni Iraola, winning three times, drawing once and losing twice. In general it has been a good start to life at Liverpool for Iraola, with his players steadily getting to grips with the physicality his style of football demands. Some stood out more than others this summer, but a mix of 10 different goal-scorers across the six games showed that the Reds are going to rely on the collective this term.

His touch and finish against the Principality side demonstrated all of his striker’s instinct. Finally, Cody Gakpo got what could be his final goal in a Reds shirt with a well-taken left-footed goal against Como, before Jeremy Jacquet rounded out the scoring by tapping in after good work from Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk. Two players lead the way for assistsWith the goal-scoring spread out, the goal-creating was also shared between a number of different players this year, with eight in total setting up Liverpool to score.Encouragingly, Jeremie Frimpong was one of two players who assisted more than once, with his cutback for Wirtz against Leeds and the cross for Gakpo to put Liverpool ahead against Como two very good pieces of play.Photo by Dustin Satloff/Getty ImagesSzoboszlai also claimed two assists, with his through ball for Koumas to score past Sunderland the best of the pair.Though he had a poor pre-season, Harvey Elliott also ended it with a goal contribution, while Calvin Ramsay will be pleased to have done the same.Milos Kerkez will be aiming to set up more than the two goals he managed during his debut season with Liverpool, and his flick to put the ball on a plate for Chambers against Leeds is a good way of doing that.Meanwhile, Isak claimed an assist for Wirtz’s scrappy goal against Monaco, just after Ryan Gravenberch had set him up brilliantly score in the same match. Finally, Gakpo became only the third player to score and assist for Liverpool this summer as he did both against Como on Sunday, laying the ball expertly into the path of Jacquet to finish pre-season – and perhaps his career at Anfield – in style.Join Our NewsletterReceive a digest of our best Liverpool content each week direct to your mailbox
