The Premier League duo were both linked with a move for the 24-year-old in the January window, and it is understood that they will return to their chase of the Mexican if he can prove his fitness between now and the end of the season.



Gimenez has been out of action for Milan since October after suffering an ankle injury, but is now nearing the final stages of his recovery. Gimenez has endured plenty of difficulties since he completed his switch to Serie A in January 2024, but his goalscoring record from his time in the Dutch Eredivisie is sure to excite Leeds and Sunderland. Liverpool have earmarked the Slovenian as a target who could provide depth to their backline, and they are hoping that they can tempt him away just one year after his £15million move to Elland Road.
