On the incoming front, Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano is of interest, while we can now share an update on Inter Milan stopper Alessandro Bastoni, who is under contract in Italy until 2028.Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty ImagesBastoni is widely regarded as one of the finest central defenders in the world and has been a cornerstone of Inter Milan’s side since 2019.RTK can reveal via our transfer insider, Graeme Bailey, that intermediaries have been in contact with some of Europe’s top clubs to notify them that, heading into the New Year, Bastoni could be open to a move.
Liverpool are one of those contacted along with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.As we have previously shared, the Reds are in the market for at least one, possibly two, central defenders in 2026. They are analysing numerous options, including potential free agents Marc Guehi and Upamecano, but the Premier League champions are now aware that Bastoni could be available.Bailey said: “Alessandro Bastoni is top-class, he really is.
We know Liverpool are looking at many options; the likes of Guehi and Upamecano are free, so Bastoni would be very different. Bastoni, we are talking about one of the most expensive defenders in the world; you are talking over £80million, maybe even close to £100million.“Liverpool have been informed, and I believe they will monitor the situation to see whether Bastoni is available and how keen.
