(Credit: Hasan Karim, Breaking Media, Imago) Sun 7 December 2025 16:00, UK Liverpool and Barcelona have been told they would have to pay £50million to agree a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson in the January transfer window.The Brazil midfielder has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and Arne Slot‘s side are now considering making a move when the window opens.As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Atalanta would prefer to sell the 26-year-old in the summer rather than mid-way through the season, but could be open to his departure due to his contract situation.Ederson‘s contract with the Serie A outfit is set to run until 2027, and the next couple of windows are seen as the last chance to make a significant fee from his sale.As a result, they have placed a £40-50million price tag on him, encouraging further interest from the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle and Barcelona.Liverpool plot ‘£50m’ move to sign EdersonFootball Insider revealed on 5 December that Liverpool are interested in signing Ederson as Slot would like to add more physicality to his midfield.The Reds have been linked with moves for the likes of Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba in recent months as they consider a number of options. He’s a top player, Ederson, there’s no getting anywhere from that.“So he has got the ability, I think, to go to the Premier League and be a success.“It does look like Liverpool are in need of a bit of physicality and energy in that midfield and in the team in general so I’m sure he’s somebody who’s maybe on their list that they’re looking at, but as you said there’s other clubs who are looking at him.“Manchester City have been credited with an interest, Newcastle have also been credited with an interest and Barcelona are big admirers of him as well. Credit: Imago“I think for Atalanta right now he’s under contract until 2027 so if no new deal can be agreed you would imagine the Italian club could maybe be more open to cashing in on Ederson in the summer.“He probably could be available for between 40 to 50 million pounds in the current market.
