Ex-Liverpool Star Jordon Ibe Arrested After Landing Back in the UK

Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe, aged 30, was arrested at Luton Airport on January 30 upon returning from Bulgaria, where he currently plays for Lokomotiv Sofia.[1][2] He has been charged with actual bodily harm in connection with an alleged assault that took place on December 14, 2025.[1][2][4]

According to the Metropolitan Police, Ibe was detained immediately after landing, taken into custody for questioning, and later released on bail. He is scheduled to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on March 6, 2026.[1][2] The police spokesperson confirmed the charge relates to the mid-December incident but provided no further details due to ongoing proceedings.[2]

Ibe, a former England Under-21 international, enjoyed early promise in his career. He joined Liverpool as a teenager in 2012, making 58 appearances and scoring four goals before a £15 million transfer to AFC Bournemouth in 2016.[1][2] His time at Anfield included loan spells at Birmingham City, Derby County, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, with a notable debut in 2015.[2] However, his career has since been turbulent, marked by inconsistency and multiple club moves—Lokomotiv Sofia is his 13th professional team.[1]

This is not Ibe's first brush with the law. Previously, he admitted to improperly obtaining a prescription for the insomnia drug Zolpidem and was fined £230 at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.[1] Born in South-East London, Ibe was once hailed as one of England's brightest prospects, but off-field challenges have overshadowed his potential.[1]

Legal experts note that actual bodily harm charges can lead to significant penalties, including imprisonment, depending on injury severity and circumstances.[2] Ibe’s representatives have not commented, and investigations continue with bail conditions requiring his return for court.[2]
