Omar Marmoush's Stance on Joining Tottenham Revealed After Man City Exit News

Omar Marmoush, the Egyptian forward who joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m (€70m) in January 2025, is not interested in a move to Tottenham Hotspur despite the north London club's keen interest during the January 2026 transfer window.

Marmoush, 26, has struggled for game time at the Etihad Stadium this season, managing just 389 minutes across all competitions and only two Premier League starts under Pep Guardiola. Since arriving, he has recorded nine goals and four assists in 40 appearances, but remains behind Erling Haaland in the pecking order. Currently representing Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Marmoush is reportedly eager for regular football to regain his peak form.

Tottenham, managed by Thomas Frank, have made enquiries about the versatile attacker, who can play as a striker or wide forward. Spurs view him as a potential upgrade on Dominic Solanke and replacement for Brennan Johnson, who could depart for £35m amid Crystal Palace interest. The club previously discussed Marmoush during summer talks for Savinho and sees him as a dynamic addition to bolster their attack after a failed bid for Antoine Semenyo.

However, sources confirm Marmoush is not keen on joining Tottenham, who are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table despite Champions League football. Man City, fighting on multiple fronts, have little appetite to sell mid-season, especially to a rival, with his contract running until 2029. Reports from The Athletic's David Ornstein and The Daily Briefing indicate City will hold firm until summer at earliest, even as they pursue Semenyo's £65m release clause.

Interest isn't limited to Spurs: Aston Villa are making a move, with transfer insider Dean Jones noting their bid to steal a march. Egypt coach Hossam Hassan has urged Marmoush to stay in the Premier League, calling him an asset for any team. While a summer exit seems likely if minutes don't improve, a January switch to Tottenham appears off the table.[6][1][2][3][5]
